Otha Lee Rule Sr.

August 20, 1961 — December 29, 2023

"After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." 1 Peter 5:10

Otha Lee Rule Sr. was born on Sunday, August 20, 1961 in Inverness, MS to the late Inez Rule and fathered by the late Walter Rule.

He was raised in Chicago and attended Simeon Vocational High School where he played his favorite sport, basketball. At an early age, Otha worked with his dad and learned the value of hard work and that value followed him throughout his life. This led him to the Jewel Grocery Store chain where he met his lovely wife, Nancy Ringo ("Honey"). Otha and Nancy married on August 18, 1984.

Otha's Industrial education prepared him for the field and he worked in several states doing various jobs from Journeyman in MS, pipefitter in TX, driller in NM, TX & CO, welder in KY and GA and roughneck in NM. He settled in Midland, TX after coming here on a 2-year job assignment to build a power plant over 23 years ago and he ended his days as a truck driver with Pilot Thomas Logistics.

In his spare time, Otha loved entertaining and inviting family and friends over to shoot pool and/or swim in the swimming pool. He thrived off this and looked forward to every opportunity he had. He loved it so much that if you were visiting, he basically "harassed" you to shoot pool. Let's not leave out that he thought he was the grill master (although most of the time the chicken was undone).

Otha leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Nancy; three children, Otha Jr. (DeLandrea) of Dallas, TX, Orlando "Shawn" (Jessica) of Dallas, TX, and Cyntoria Cox of Ft. Myers, FL; three Grandchildren, Autumn, Payton and Jordin; two sisters Shirley and Debra; one brother LaShaun (Kim) all of Chicago, IL. Two brothers preceded him in death, Walter Jr and Rodney; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Otha accepted Christ at an early age and recommitted during his hospital stay
