Janette Adona Harris

Janette "Jan" Adona Harris, age 61, of Midland, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 5, 2023.

Janette was born May 05, 1962 in San Angelo, Texas, a daughter of Roy Franklin and Paula Harris Thompson.

Janette was raised attending New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She attended Midland High School and graduated in 1980. While in high school, Jan was a part of the Debutant Ball, which she placed 2nd and also participated in Volleyball and Track and Field. She was a homemaker and also worked in the home health field. She took great pride in her work and spent the last few years of her career caring for Mr. Cease, whom she raved about often. She enjoyed being a football fan. Jan was in a love/hate relationship when it came to the Dallas Cowboys (just like all Cowboys fans). But she was always there to root for her team.

Jan enjoyed anything that involved spending money. If you know her, you know she was going get an outfit together with the jewelry to match. No one did it better. I truly believe she believed the saying "Find a penny pick it up and all day long you'll have good luck", because no matter where she was, no penny went unaccounted for. She also had a love for home decor. Each room in her home had a theme. Whether it was cows in the kitchen, leopards in her bedroom or just beautiful colors chosen by a beautiful soul. We won't talk about her dirt cravings. Lol..

She is survived by the father of children, Patrick Dixon; four children, Janishia Harris, Patrice Harris, Crystal Harris-Diop, and Patrick Harris; two siblings, Rochelle Williams, Andre Gill; two half siblings, Pamela Gregory, and Darnell Gregory; and her aunt, Clarieca Tabors, uncle Clarence Gipson; mother-in-law, Mary Dixon; step-mother, Earline Franklin; grandfather, Howard Moore, and best friend Rosetta Christian; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and countless loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Franklin and Paula Harris Thompson; one granddaughter, Dylan Harris; grandmother, Rosetta Moore; and one brother, Jody Gill.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Midland Memorial Hospital and Dialysis Center for the compassionate care they provided their mother.

A celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 14,2023 at Mayberry Funeral Home in Midland. Immediately following the service, a Repast will be held at Lamesa Road Church of Christ (3409 Lamesa Road, Midland, TX)
