Gwen Johnson entered this world January 29, 1950, in Colorado City, Texas and departed May 28, 2023, in Midland, Texas. He graduated from Big Spring High School, and later joined the membership of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ having been led to Christ by Ms. Barbara Jean Bryant.
Gwen met and married the love of his life, Rosie Carter, on January 28, 1971. He truly loved and valued his family and his position as its Patriarch and Provider. He worked for both Drill Co. and Long John Silvers for 20 years before retiring, and then after retirement, worked 17 years for WalMart in the Produce Department. Many things added enjoyment and laughter to his life, but the most important was making memories by spending time with family and loved ones, cooking, watching church programs, playing with his grandchildren, great-grandchild, and watching his favorite team, the one and only Dallas Cowboys; he was a true-blue fan.
Gwen was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Jean Johnson; son, Anthony Jerome Johnson; grandmother, Gretchel McGruder; grandfather, Sam Johnson; and step grandmother, Aquila Johnson Evans.
Left to cherish and honor his memory is his wife of 52 years, Rosie Johnson; daughter, Angie (Arandal) Goodley; granddaughter, Markiesha Johnson; grandsons, Jalen and Kaden Childress; and great-granddaughters, Ryleigh De'Nae and Alahni. He is also survived by his sisters, Donna Johnson, Kay Lynn Long, Gretchel Long, Trenna Johnson and Brandie Johnson; brothers, Charles (Carla) Johnson and Anthony (Tammie) Long; aunt, Barbara Nell Johnson; uncle, John L. Johnson; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews
