Elnora Vines Hill, age 83, of Midland, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, November 20, 2023.
Elnora was born July 23, 1940, in Mount Pleasant, Texas to Charles and Everlina Vines on November 29, 1956, in Littlefield, Texas. She was a long-time, active member of Mount Rose Full Gospel Baptist Church, where she served faithfully for more than 65 years.
A homemaker first, she always ensured her family was well taken care of. Throughout the years, she worked as a housekeeper, nanny/cook, and teacher's aide. Elnora LOVED, LOVED, LOVED fishing. Taught at an early age by her brother (she was one of 23 children), she was always up for a good "fishin' trip". If they were biting, the family was there! She shared her love of fishing with every generation. From her children to her great, great-grandchildren, she taught everyone how to fish, even friends and neighbors - a true legacy of love. What was most funny was the fact that she couldn't swim....... not a lick! However, she would be the first one in the fishing house or on a boat if it meant landing the "big one".
Another love of Elnora's was playing Bingo with her friends at Southeast Senior Center. She enjoyed word puzzles, ceramics, arts and crafts, and spending time with her "grandbabies". She was a staunch advocate of education, always pushing herself and those she loved to "sturdy". As she always said, "Sturdy baby, 'cause once you get it, they can't take it from you". A true champion of life, Elnora will be greatly missed by ALL who knew and loved her. The gift of love that she so generously shared will last forever.
She is survived by four children: Lennis Omar Fareed (Patricia), Kenneth Ray Hill (Britta), Katherine Hill Williams (Archie), Nadine Hill, 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, two sisters (Christine Williams and Iren017e Wormly), two brothers (Charlie and Willie Vines), and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and "adopted" family, all of whom she loved dearly.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Everlina Vines, her spouse, James Bo Hill, and her infant son, David Charles Hill.
