Dorothy Mae Walker

February 14, 1957 — February 2, 2024

Dorothy Mae Walker, beloved daughter of Willie Walker and John Walker Sr., was born on February 14, 1957, and peacefully passed away on February 2, 2024, to join her Lord and Savior.

Dorothy cherished her community at Goodwill Church, where she found solace and support among her church family. She held a deep admiration for Pastor Johnson, whose guidance she valued immensely. A dedicated registered nurse, Dorothy devoted 44 years of her life to serving at Midland Memorial Hospital, leaving a legacy of compassion and care in her wake.

Family meant everything to Dorothy, especially her cherished grandbabies, whom she adored. Music filled her soul, and she lent her voice to the church choir with joy. Dorothy loved to read and traveling brought her great joy. Her faithful companion, her dog King, was always by her side.

Among her closest friends were the members of the Golden Girls, a group bound by friendship and faith. Originally members of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Walker and John Walker Sr., her sister Rosie Hall, and her brother Timothy Hodge Sr.

Left to cherish her memory is her brothers Billy Walker, John Walker Jr., and her special sister, Willie Pate. She is also survived by her daughter, Angela Mitchell, and son Donald Mitchell, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Aliyah Jackson, Zayden Brito, Kamden Brown-Williams, Trinity Mitchell, and Iris DeLarosa Mitchell. Additionally, Dorothy leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, including Talisha Lambert and Timothy Lambert, who will forever cherish her memory.

Dorothy's kind spirit, unwavering faith, and boundless love will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, her memory a blessing to us all.
