Mae Moore, lovingly known as "Nana" to family and friends and "Sister" to her siblings, was a cherished spiritual person, a compassionate soul, and a beacon of God's light. She peacefully transitioned on December 31st, 2024, at 92 years young, surrounded by the comfort of her home in Dallas, Texas. Her presence will be deeply missed as she leaves a legacy of love and warmth.
Mrs. Clara Mae Moore was born on February 21st, 1932, in Hallettsville, Texas, to the late Roe Etta Saddler and Sam Bedford. She was the eldest of six children, with her sister Roe Ethel (Auntie) having preceded her in death.
On November 25, 1948, she married Napoleon Badger Jr., and together they had eight children: seven sons and one daughter. Five of their children-Sandra, Ronnie, Gerald, Henry, and George-preceded her in death. Although our mom gave birth to one daughter, we had the privilege of being raised with our cousins, Sharon, Lynetta, and Lorna, who were sisters to us. On February 21st, 1968, she married Robert Moore Jr., whom she affectionately called "Honey," while he lovingly referred to her as "Bright Eyes." With Robert, she had a bonus daughter, Gloria, who also preceded her in death.
She confessed her faith at the age of 12 and became a member of Greater Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Midland, Texas. She was a dedicated, faithful, and active member until her health declined. Throughout her time in the church, she served in various roles. She took great pleasure in counseling young women and participating in the morning prayer group. Clara Mae loved her church and was consistently faithful in attendance and contributions. One of her favorite expressions was, "For in him we live, and move, and have our being;" Acts 17:28 (KJV).
Nana was always skilled with her hands. She enjoyed various activities, such as sewing, ceramics, gardening, and solving word search puzzles. You could often find her sitting outside, walking barefoot, or fully engaged in her hobbies. Later in life, she started her own "Angels and Moore" business, selling ceramic angels at community fairs and from home. Additionally, she baked and sold tea cakes throughout the area and beyond.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her three sons, James Michael Badger (Dian) of Desoto, Texas, Harold Badger (Linda) of Dallas, Texas, and Pastor Samuel Badger (Elaine) of Los Angeles, California and daughter in-law Celes Bedford of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by two brothers, Lloyd James Bedford (Sue) of Camden, New Jersey, and Leon Bedford (Rosie) of Midland, Texas, and two sisters, Leola Jones of Omaha, Nebraska, and Vernice Bedford of Midland, Texas. Her legacy includes 27 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 29 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Additionally, she is remembered by two bonus children from her marriage to Napoleon Badger, Jr. Timothy Williams (deceased) of Dallas, Texas, Mark William of Dallas, TX, and Andrea Miller of Dallas, Texas.
We find comfort in knowing that Nana is now in the arms of the Heavenly Father she served so faithfully. Her memory will always be cherished in our hearts and minds, and her unwavering spirit will continue to inspire us to lead lives filled with love, compassion, and steadfast faith. We celebrate her life and her profound impact on everyone who knew her.
