Alicia Gonzales, known as "Chachi," passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31st, 2024, in Midland, TX, surrounded by her loved ones. Chachi was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness.
Alicia, born on October 5th, 1960, was a beloved wife to her high school sweetheart Henry Gonzales Sr. for 46 years. Together they enjoyed cruising and hosting family functions and gatherings. She enjoyed her time working with the Somers Family for over 10 years. Alicia was a devoted mother to Tina Gonzales, Margaret Gonzales, Henry Gonzales-Leyva, and Christopher Gonzales, a cherished mother-in-law to Justin Gonzales-Leyva. She was a loving grandmother to Jayden Sanchez, Alize Sanchez, Dre Barber, Eyan "EJ" Gonzales-Leyva, and Adalynn Lopez.
She enjoyed cooking and was known for her famous Mexican rice and green chicken enchiladas. Her hobbies included decorating for the holidays with matching outfits. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to all of her grandchildren's events and ceremonies.
Alicia's legacy will be her kindness and generosity that will be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Alicia never met a stranger and was always willing to welcome anyone with open arms. She was there to lend a helping hand, and willing to do anything for her family and friends. She always had your back no matter what, never judged, didn't question or close the door to anyone in need. Chachi's custom expressive greetings when you walk through the door will be greatly missed. Alicia was strong, a fighter and never gave up. Her greatest happiness in life was watching her family grow.
Alicia is survived by her Husband, four children, son-in-law, and five grandchildren. Six siblings: Yolanda Sanchez (Mario) of Bakersfield, CA, Sheila Madrid (Charlie) Oscar Sandate (Alice) Maria Madrid (Luis), Antonio Sandate, Terry Martinez (Virgil) all of Midland, TX
She is proceeded in death by her parents Antonio and Andrea Sandate, Mother and Father-in-Law Cipriano and Margarita Gonzales, Bother-in-laws Adam, Joe and Tony Gonzales, Cousins Mark Varela and Megan Jurado.
We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all that have assisted Alicia's family during this time as well as the medical staff at Signature Care Emergency Center of Midland, Texas, United Methodist Hospital of Dallas, TX, and Midland Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
